This is the news from February 2022!

Congratulations!

To Alex Howse (WLP night manager), on his first five years at WLP!

To Alan Crowe (WLP chef de partie), Simply the Best for January.

The Bell Hotel, Saxmundham

Beales Hotels hope to complete the purchase of the Bell Hotel in Saxmundham, Suffolk towards the end of February. This Grade II listed hotel in the heart of the town is a similar age to West Lodge Park, and is close to Snape, Aldeburgh, Orford, Dunwich, Southwold and Framlingham, a beautiful coastal area less than two hours from West Lodge Park.

A two stage refurbishment of this historic building will take place.

Ashley Beale will be General Manager, ably assisted by Matthew Croxford as Deputy.

Estates News!

Bedroom 58 has opened at WLP, a lovely cosy double that replaces our second last single room in the hotel.

The £36k knock through scheme from the John Evelyn Room to the King Charles Room is almost finished, and there will be more photos next month, but for now here is work in progress.

This will enable larger parties and groups to book the whole West Lodge Park Suite, but two sets of double doors will enable them to be let separately when required. The finest suite of banqueting rooms in North London for a special occasion.

New Lodge – one of our key staff accommodation buildings has received a £35k makeover with new facilities, decorations and furniture.

This is planting season in the Beale Arboretum, and many new trees are now in the ground including several Sequoiadendron giganteum varieties for what we hope will be our fourth National Collection in due course. You can see the up to date Arboretum news here https://www.westlodgepark.co.uk/arboretum/news/

Look out for a series of special events at West Lodge Park over the next couple of months including: Valentine’s weekend 11th -14th February…

… Wedding Open Day 20th February…

…and Mother’s Day weekend 26th – 27th March.

Look out too for special bedroom offers including Winter WarmerNew Year Escape and Settle in Sunday

And finally…..on Thursday 27th January, the government released us (and all hospitality) from the “Plan B” measures, a good day for all our hard working staff and conscientious guests who can now enjoy all that West Lodge Park has to offer, with face masks optional, but sanitary stations around the hotel, and enhanced cleaning of the facilities.

Andrew Beale,
Managing Director
