This is the news from August 2018!


To Tony King, Finance Director, retiring after an incredible 47 years at Beales Hotels.
Tony started at WLP in 1971 in the newly opened Cedar Restaurant, did management spells at Hatfield Lodge Hotel, Firs Hall and WLP before being promoted to General Manager at Hatfield Lodge Hotel in 1986. He was promoted to Finance Director in 2000.

Tony’s wife Karen was Head Chef at WLP, and the first female head chef of a four star hotel in the UK.

Tony retires to North Mymms, and to his beloved Chelsea Football Club.

We all wish him and Karen well in this new stage in their lives together, and thank Tony for such brilliant service over so many years.

Estates News!

The grounds around the hotels are bone dry in this prolonged heatwave, and the trees are suffering, however there are some bonuses including the first female cone on our Wollemi Pine (Wollemia nobilis) and the first walnuts on our Black Walnut tree (Juglans nigra).

Summer is most definitely upon us, and the summer break offers at WLP and BH give great value for money dinner bed and breakfast stays during this lovely weather.

The Summer Swing evening at WLP takes place on Friday August 10th featuring the Paul Jaffa House Band and an excellent menu from Head Chef Wayne Turner.

The Murder Mystery evening at WLP takes place on Friday 21st September featuring the wonderful actors that make up Its Murder!

The new BH kitchen team under Head Chef Jamie Curtis have launched a new menu.
