I would like to say a big thank you for the funeral reception you arranged for my family on behalf of my late mother. I would like to thank especially Chris who looked after my “advanced party” and made them feel welcome as well as an excellent job of serving the food etc. The food was delicious and it made a sombre occasion a day to remember as something special.

August 2012 - Stanley's gathering

On behalf also of Valerie, I would like to say a huge thank you to you and your staff for all the hard work you put into making our gathering for Dad on Thursday such a great success.

When we arrived from the crematorium I worked down the queue for the buffet to remarks of "lovely buffet", "delicious food", "that salmon is lovely". The Buffet looked wonderful, colourful and very inviting.

When I entered the main room there was a happy buzz of chatter and laughter and those who were not part of one of the "groups" so to speak, had been gathered in and included.

Dad would have been delighted - I could imagine him sitting to one side viewing the proceedings and smiling happily.

I just wanted to say thank you for your kindness and efficiency when helping us with the preparations for the funeral tea for the Aylard family on Tuesday 24th April.

The sandwiches and cakes were lovely, the tea and coffee kept coming and the three members of staff looking after us were excellent. They were friendly and polite, on the ball and couldn’t have been more helpful. Please pass on our grateful thanks to them.

Dear Sharon

I and my family wish to thank you very much for the way in which the Funeral Gathering for my husband was conducted on 24th April. My daughter-in-law, Carol, who was looking after the guests until I and my sons returned from the committal was full of praise, not only for the organisation but the sympathetic, helpful and efficient way in which the staff carried out their duties.

When I arrived it was clear that the guests were being very well looked after and that an excellent tea was being served. I am sure everyone there was very appreciative. There was plenty of room for everyone and this event was made as pleasurable as such an occasion can be.

Function on 27th January

Dear Helen

Just a quick e-mail to say how pleased we were with the function we held for my deceased brother's funeral gathering on 27th January. The afternoon tea was excellent and the staff were very helpful and friendly. The whole process ran very smoothly which was very comforting after the stress of the funeral and looking after my 86 year old parents.

I would like to single out the young man who spent some time serving drinks (I can't remember his name). He overheard me saying that I had forgotten my sat nav and did not know the way back to my brother's house, he immediately offered to get me a copy of a map to help. I thought that this was very good customer service. I did not need the map in the end as I was able to follow someone else.

Meant to message you sooner, but have been struck down with tonsillitis all of this week - must've been the stress of everything catching up with me.

Anyway, just wanted to thank you and all the hotel staff for everything you did to make Monday go so smoothly. Such a heartbreaking time, I'm sure you can understand, but everyone's professionalism ensured yet another successful occasion your hotel.

Thank you and all members of staff who attended at my Mother's gathering at West Lodge after her funeral on the 27th January 2011. All who were there thought the service given by all the staff was superb as did my husband and I. From the door being opened for us on arrival, the coats being taken from us on the way in, to the discreet service being given when the food was served everyone’s needs were catered for.

The food was delicious, and, when a friend of mine mentioned she was a celiac, special food was prepared for her beautifully on a slate platter.

We have had many a wedding reception in the family at your Hotel and it is still as charming as before with staff to match as well as the wonderful cuisine.

Funeral gathering on 19.4.10 following cremation of my wife Margaret Smith

I have just realised that, owing to pressure of events, I have never written to thank you for the excellence of the gathering mentioned above. I was anxious that it should be a celebration of my wife’s life and her wonderful personality, not a gloomy reflection on death or sanctimonious spirituality of that kind. I need not have worried : the whole event, the surroundings, the catering, and the background management generally were as near perfection as we could have dared hope for. This is not only my view but is shared by Mrs Jane Wynn who made most of the arrangements with you on my behalf and, to judge from the comments made to me, by virtually everyone else present.

So thank you all very much, and perhaps you will pass my comments on to all the staff concerned.

We just wanted to let you know how much we appreciated all the support and excellent service we received from you and your team on the day of Sams funeral.

We had an unexpected guest on a glutted free diet and the kitchen impressively produced a plate of food for her, seemingly, without and effort. Everyone was so kind and helpful, they made what was a difficult day for us much easier.

Thank you once again for all the arrangements yesterday. In the end the number was exactly 36 and all went very smoothly. The room was fine and the catering and bar staff as well as those on reception and the doorman were all really helpful and we couldn't have wished for more.
