“A Night at the Opera”
Soprano Joanne McGahon accompanied by pianist Anna Tilbrook will perform arias from operas including the Marriage of Figaro, Tosca, Romeo and Juliet, Carmen, Porgy and Bess, and Rusalka, interspersed with festive songs and classic piano solos by Chopin, Grieg and Debussy.
Soprano Joanne McGahon trained with English National Opera in 2003. She has performed live on BBC Radio 2 and 4 and was recently voted “Best Classical Artist” in the MMA Music Awards 2009.
As well as working with ENO, the Fitzwilliam Quartet and the Classical Prom company, Joanne regularly tours Italy as soloist with Adoramus Choir and Orchestra. She is an experienced recording artist, performing on television and film soundtracks and last year released her first album.
Since her debut at the Wigmore Hall in 1999 she has become a regular artist at all the leading concert halls and festivals.
Recent performances include the Wigmore Hall, King’s Place, St John’s Smith Square, LSO St Lukes, Cheltenham Festival and Oxford Lieder. Anna studied with Julius Drake at the Royal Academy of Music where she was made an associate in 2009.
