Thank you so very, very much for letting Ralph, Lyndsay and myself stay at your wonderful hotel.
It has been a lovely break for all of us – and has been so nice to look out on The Enfield Chase from our bedroom windows.
The dinner last night was especially delicious and beautifully presented – we all felt quite royal!
We are now about to enjoy a frosty walk and wander through the delights of the arboretum. A great finish to a great stay!
Denise, Ralph, Lyndsay.
Just returned from another superb overnight stay at West Lodge. Once again the service and ambience was incredibly good. It was a lovely occasion for us and I especially enjoyed the delicious array of breads at dinner and the dessert soufflé.
Can’t express our gratitude enough except to say thank you for your generosity and great kindness.
Norman & May Hoare.
PS: I know the Bainbridge’s feel exactly the same!
Just a short note to thank you for inviting us back to West Lodge, it was lovely to see both Norman and Mary and we all had a super time. Tea in the afternoon and then a fabulous dinner in the evening, it really was wonderful. Please thank all the staff for looking after us so well.
I hope you are well and life is being good to you.
Dear Mr Hall,
I had reason to be in Southgate a few days ago and stayed at The West Lodge Park hotel on the 11th of February and would like to say I had a very comfortable stay. Front of house and bar team who I saw were excellent. I hope you like the photo I have attached of your hotel.
I always enjoy staying at your Hotel for it is quite exceptional. A particular enjoyment is to put on a pair of wellington boots after dinner and spend an hour walking in the gardens.
Dear Mr Hall,
I am writing to say thank you for your new member of staff, Agnes. I have been coming to West Lodge for many years and rarely have I met such a warm, effective and welcoming member of staff. Agnes is helpful, positive and supportive of the best that is West Lodge. Her smile and positive energy is a credit to both her and your hotel. This young lady is a breath of fresh air in what can sometimes be too stuffy an environment in Hadley Wood,
Saturday Night at West Lodge
I found a wasp in the bathroom and called down to reception. A brave young man (Dion) arrived and dealt with the situation.
This is a wonderful hotel, comfortable, welcoming, clean, very well appointed, even real hangers, windows that open, note pads, writing paper and pens and even a bowl of apples at reception. I am bowled over.
And it is because I am so impressed with everything that I want to tell you my one problem: The water. I wonder if perhaps you could save money on the water softener? It seems to me too much. It tastes, not just in the bedrooms (cleaning teeth), but in the pots of tea at tea time, glass of water at dinner etc. Might it be possible to use less of the salts?
Our stay at WLP was very good indeed.
A lovely touch to be presented with a glass of prosecco when we went to dinner and then to have our desert plate decorated ( see attached photo) just brilliant.
Many thanks indeed for making our stay memorable
We had a wonderful stay on Saturday. The food was fabulous and the room superb. The waiter who served us should be congratulated on his approach and politeness. I have stayed in a number of 4 star hotels that don't come close to West Lodge. Thanks very much. We will be back. I have posted our positive thoughts on tripadvisor.

I’ve had such a lovely time at your hotel, Patrick said to me that if I needed anything in the hotel after he had left I could ask Anetey as the bar was open all night for residents. He has been so kind, I needed directions and he has provided me with this.
All your staff have been so kind and helpful, unfortunately I haven’t been able to speak to them all.
I just wanted to drop you a quick email to let you know that Joel and I had a lovely night’s stay on Saturday at West Lodge.
We decided to treat ourselves to a night away as it was our anniversary on Friday and we stayed in the Chestnut Lodge and the room was lovely. The wonderful touch of having umbrellas handy to use is such a simple but wonderful idea.
As usual the food was fabulous and the staff friendly and helpful – we were only there for Saturday afternoon and evening and breakfast on Sunday as we were working, but the atmosphere and staff made it possible for us to relax the moment we arrived.
With many thanks to you and all your staff.

Thank you so much for your generosity here at West Lodge Park over these past days. After what has been a most exciting but also intense period leading to the wedding our stay here has afforded us a much needed repose. We have enjoyed the gardens and trees, the Jacuzzi, the facilities of turquoise room, but more than anything the sincere warmth and welcome of your most enthusiastic staff. It’s clear that they genuinely enjoy working here and as such are always up for putting in the extra mile.
We look forward to seeing you again at St. Mary’s Luton, hopefully not before too long.
We now head off for two weeks into the sun far more rested than otherwise.
With enormous thanks,
Stephen & Tiffany Carter
The Beale family are very proud of their hotel and they have much to be proud about.
The location is excellent with easy access to the M25. There a nearby stops for the frequent bus service to Cockfosters and Hadley Wood railway station is a 20 minutes stroll.
The setting is delightful with nothing better than a walk through the arboretum after a busy day in central London followed by tea on the terrace.
Everything the hotel offers is of the highest quality and the focus is on providing comforts which benefit the guest ie no useless cushions or valances.
The rooms and very well equipped with everything that is needed in plenty of space. I had a room in the lodge during my first stay and this time in the main hotel, both were delightful. My only request would be to make the curtains thicker to block out the early morning sun.
The staff are professional and attentive. I could not ask for more.
As frequent travellers for both business and pleasure my wife and I stay in lots of hotels. We can say that WLP is the best value we have encountered. Thank you.
Thank you please pass on my appreciation to your owner Andrew and I will certainly be leaving a gleaming tripadvisor review x
Overnight stay on Friday August the 1st
I am writing to you from our lovely room, which you kindly offered us as a free upgrade. And we also had a lovely bottle of chilled Prosecco and even a hand signed anniversary card waiting for us too. The whole experience, including the evening meal was fantastic throughout.
I would like to personally thank you for arranging this for us, it made our stay really special and we would have no hesitation recommending West Lodge to friends and family, and look forward to staying here again ourselves!
Please pass our thanks on to your team, including Yianni in the restaurant, and the ladies on reception, who were all great.
Glen & Elaine Stevens
Mary and I have just returned from West Lode Park and I wanted to write to thank you for a wonderful, generous opportunity to enjoy the hotel.
As always, we were looked after so well and it was lovely to sit and enjoy Pam & Roy’s company over tea and drinks on Saturday afternoon. The atmosphere in the bar and lounge was very convivial and dinner was excellent. Every course was beautifully presented and so tasty. I particularly enjoyed the salmon and soufflé for dessert was quite something! What a real treat to finish the meal. Surprisingly we found space for a full English breakfast to ‘round’ off the stay. It’s a good job, weather permitting, I have some tennis games booked this week.
I do believe the stay at WLP was my ‘final’ retirement “do” from December 2012. It was certainly worth ‘saving it up’ and the Bainbridge’s also enjoyed themselves, celebrating (thanks to you) Pam’s 60th birthday. However it will not be our final visit to WLP, a place we delight in.
Thank you Andrew; I hope we can meet up some time in the future.
Dear Mr Seward
What a wonderful stay we had last night at your delightful hotel. We were very concerned to hear that there was a Christmas party going on but as you stated it was no problem and we could not hear the music.
Thank you for personally sorting out our beds ( I asked Bill to book twin beds but he failed to mention it to Bruno) the meal was outstanding.
Have a blessed Christmas you and your staff.
Will and Betty Moore
Just wanted to e-mail you directly to give my thanks for the great stay and evening meal that myself and my wife shared at the West Lodge Park Hotel on the 22nd November.
We had stayed at your Hatfield hotel previously and had a very good stay , so expectations were high , and they were more than met.
The Hotel itself is charming, and the grounds and room really added to the occasion (it was my Birthday) , but what really made it a memorable stay was the evening meal accompanied by the pianist taking requests as we ate our food.
The food was top notch , and although on a "meal deal break" I was tempted to upgrade and supplement both the starters and main , myself and my wife really enjoyed the friendly atmosphere, good service and when the pianist (Jason ?) played "Mad world" for me that really made it a stay that will stick in my mind.
In a world where people complain so readily I just wanted to take the time to let you know that all our expectations were exceeded , and that I have already recommended you to my mother and father.
Many thanks once again , and if you could pass my comments on to the management team I would be most appreciative
Dear Mr. Seward,
I spent just over 3 weeks at your hotel recently as did my companion, Ian Crane. I wanted to send a brief note to tell you how much we both enjoyed this, our second, visit.
The hotel and particularly its staff, once again delivered all – and more – that is promised, in your pamphlets and other material. Every staff member we encountered contributed to the feeling we had of warmth, welcome and personal service.
However, I would like to mention those members of staff who made our stay especially comfortable and pleasant.
First and foremost, Sandra on the Front Desk and Michael, who represented the hotel so professionally as he kept my companion company while they waited for the arrival of the paramedics Sandra had called. Both Sandra and Michael were quick, competent, calm, concerned but reassuring and very, very impressive.
Kudos also to all 3 doormen, Simon in the Terrace Lounge, Pat and Linda both of whom we saw at breakfast and in the restaurant, and “Peach” who serviced our rooms.
Our thanks to one and all,
Judith S Hafey.
Just to say I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at WLP. My bedroom and the public areas looked great. The arboretum looked fantastic, and I appreciated the information signs about the trees that have been placed around. Food very satisfying at both dinner and breakfast. I agree, the scrambled eggs were the tastiest ever.
On arrival the receptionist handed me the room key, greeting me by name and with nothing at all to sign: a wonderful start which made me feel quite special (and a similar easy &friendly departure next day).
Nous avons passé un agréable séjour, l’accueil a été chaleureux, les repas succulents.
Encore merci pour votre invitation, ce fut un réel plaisir.

Dear Sir / Madam,
Thank you for a great weekend stay recently in the west lodge hotel , it’s not often I can praise a Hotel in the UK but you and your team deserve every bit of it. I felt very welcome from the minute I arrived to the minute I left. Just about everyone had a smile on their faces and nothing was too much trouble.
A lovely hotel , set in lovely grounds and location with the staff to match! – Thank you.
Paula, Dee and I stayed with you for three nights earlier this month. I would like to express my deepest gratitude for the incredible welcome and service that we enjoyed during our stay. It will always remain one of the highlights of my brief visit to Europe and the UK.
Thank you once again.

Good afternoon David,
I would like to congratulate you and your staff, I have stayed at West lodge hotel with my girlfriend this weekend and I have to say that we were delighted with the services provided ( room 84), the quality of the food and the general atmosphere of the place.
I hope we will have the opportunity to enjoy it again soon, specially the Crab tian with the avocado ice cream.

Nigel and I and 16 of our cousins held a family reunion at West Lodge Park Hotel last weekend and we would like to say how impressed we were with the high standard of the hotel and all of your staff there. We had a very pleasant weekend and special thanks are due to Sharon Blackgrove for all the hard work she put in to organising this for us. We have no hesitation in recommending your hotel to our friends.
Teresa and Nigel Pollard
Just want to say a personal "Thank you" for you input in making my birthday one i will never forget, the room we stayed in was fabulous and the hotel one of the best ever, we will definitely be returning.
We are now going to book your other hotel in Hatfield for comparison but am sure West Lodge will be our favourite.
So once again a massive thank you for a great weekend.
Just a short note to thank you for a very comfortable three nights in room 21 and for the good food and as well.
I would also like to thank you for finding the items left behind in the room!
Mr and Mrs Bryce
Dear Mr Beale,
I know you are aware of the excellent service we received from your team last weekend during our stay at West Lodge Park through our feedback on Trip Advisor and Travelzoo. This was a particularly special weekend as my parents grew up in New Barnet/Potters Bar before moving to Edinburgh and living there for 45 years. Your hotel was perfectly placed for our ’trip down memory lane’ with my mother and for a visit to John Lewis at Welwyn!
When we were checking out and thanking your staff at the reception desk, they mentioned that there may be another offer for your hotel about to be released. I would be very grateful if you would be able to let me know where/when this will appear so we don’t miss it.
Also I would be very grateful if you could send me details of your Christmas programme when it is available.
Once again many thanks to you and your lovely staff for making our stay so enjoyable – your team are a credit to you!

Thank you all
What a splendid overnight stay and Sunday lunch celebration I had with my family celebrating my Mothers 90th birthday. You all looked after us so very well. The food delicious, service exemplary and attitude from your staff caring and so hospitable. The lovely man who looked after us at dinner was especially good. Since moving we seldom visit West park Lodge and I do miss it so. May I also say the way you served Mothers breakfast on Sunday was a rare treat in these days of self service- saved me having to do it and I could relax. Please thank all who served us and made our stay so memorable. (Also the small lady on reception) Thank you again.
Many many thanks to all at West Lodge for giving the Caleys (Room 82) and us (Room 80) a truly memorable time on the occasion of our joint celebrations of our 40th wedding anniversaries.
The staff were lovely, the rooms excellent and the meals, including the tea we had, were wonderful.
An all-round success.Yours
We would just like to tell you that we had a wonderful weekend at West Lodge Park Hotel.
The dinner was delicious and all the staff from the moment we arrived were outstanding, so friendly & efficient.
The room was lovely with a really comfortable bed, fluffy towels and everything you could possibly need.
Having had a very busy time with our business in the run-up to Christmas and the New Year this was a very welcome break for us.
Thank you to all your staff.Kind regards
I received your generous gift last night at the Fireworks Finale and am once again delighted with your kindness and will really enjoy another stay at West Lodge. My Governors felt we had found a ‘gem’ of a place when they visited – but Mary & I have known this for some years.Bless you – you are so kind.
Just a note to say we have just got back from a stay at your West Park Lodge and wish to commend your family and staff on keeping such a beautiful house running efficient and smoothly. We have never stayed there before and although we found, for some reason, on check in we had no room reserved we were treated professionally and courteously. A room was given to us in the Annex, room 86. The hotel looked stunning from the moment we drove into the estate, the frost on the trees was spectacular and the Christmas tree and hotel decorations were beautiful, thank you for making it possible to stay at such a splendid house in keeping with its tradition. I know West Lodge Park has been in your family for many years now and you all deserve a pat on the back for keeping it traditional. It is a lovely relaxing enjoyable place to stay,
I am looking forward to a return stay in the future, hopefully room 4 or 5 in the main building as I've heard they are your best rooms.
Thank you once again for a lovely stay.Karen Keogh & Tommy South
Dear Mr Seward, we stayed with you again on the 17th and 18th of November and we have been regularly coming to your hotel from Scotland to visit our son at university in London for the last 4 years.
I also got to know your Hotel when I worked for Hobart in Southgate about 25 years ago , I just wanted to say that we felt this visit was the best we experienced ,although previously the staff were helpful, we noticed a real change of attitude and very keen and motivated staff ,they also seemed happy at their work.
I just wanted to congratulate you and your team and I did pass on my thanks when I was there but forgot to follow it up with a note .
thank you and we look forward to visiting you again soonMichael Muir
A huge ‘thank you’ from Michael and me for your very generous hospitality last Friday at West Lodge Park.
It was a great treat staying in your lovely hotel amidst such spectacular surroundings. I was so pleased that there was enough daylight left to take a peaceful walk through the Arboretum. It was a delight.
We enjoyed our dinner in the evening enormously and we were looked after very kindly by all the staff we cam in contact with.
I know we shall now be spreading abroad the glories of West Lodge Park – it is a gem.Thank you again and with warmest wishes from us both.
I just wanted to say a massive thank you for your kindness if giving us such a great deal which enabled Chris, Martin and I to say at West Lodge Park.
We had a brilliant time, incredibly productive and there's no doubt that the environment helped.Felt very blessed so thank you so much
We wish to express our sincere thanks for our very enjoyable visit last weekend at West Park Lodge. We were made very welcome on arrival and throughout our stay. It was good to meet up with 'old' friends and to enjoy the time and a marvellous dinner together. It was good to walk around the Arboretum, always a treat to see, but sorry we missed out on the 'tour' due to the weather conditions. However, we have promised ourselves to make up for this with a visit in the spring.
Thank you again for your kindness and the attention to detail by your wonderful team to enable us to enjoy a great weekend. With warm greetings,
My Dear Andrew
What a welcome you laid on for us at West Lodge Park! Thank you so much! Naturally we were sad not to have seen you but we were delayed at the wedding rehearsal at Streatley. To find your letter and the bottle of wine which we shared with our guests (from theological college days☺) was just what we needed after a fairly frantic day. The food, comfort and attentiveness of staff were all great and set us up for the wedding itself on the following day.
Then on to preach at the High Sheriff’s Service at St. Marys on the Monday and then to Barcelona with Ben, our elder son and his wife until yesterday! Retirement is never dull!
Hopefully all is well with you, the family, LCET and even St. Marys! Times of change indeed!
If ever you are in North Norfolk, do please contact us – we would love to see you for an ice-cream on the beach! Or maybe, more appropriately, some birding or sailing along the coast!
Finally, and I am loathe to trouble you on this score, I have mislaid my white stole from my robe and I wonder whether I left it behind in our room at West Lodge Park? If so, could I trouble you to leave it at St. Marys and I’ll arrange for someone to pick it up from there? Thanks so much!
Hilary joins me in sending our grateful thanks once again for your ongoing kindness and hospitality all round!Every blessing, as ever
Thank you for your kindness, good humour and efficiency this morning.
May I also thank Ben for all his help and assistance yesterday.
You are both a credit to the hotel.
It has been a long, long time since I have stayed in a hotel which 'got it all right' by offering such high standards of service in the rooms, gardens, decor, bar, food and reception.
Please pass this E-mail onto 'the boss' who needs to know just how good you are.

Jake loved it and we had a great time hanging out in London together. Thanks again for your generosity.
Just a small note to say a huge thank you for a wonderful stay at West Lodge Park.
The room was really quite special with the windows overlooking the trees – strolling through the grounds and enjoying the arboretum was a highlight of our visit.
Delicious food, friendly staff and beautiful surroundings made for a fantastic weekend.
Thank you again for your personal touch to make our break so enjoyable.Kindest regards
Dear Mathew, Martin and Bruno
This is just a quick email to pass on my thanks for being so helpful when my car broke down yesterday. What should have been a stressful situation was made absolutely fine, thanks to your help and attention.
My dad, John Abdul arrives today for a couple of nights - he is really looking forward to his stay - I have said how friendly you all are!
Thanks a million.Best wishes,
Dear Mr Beale,
My wife and I stayed at your excellent hotel overnight 21st July, room 28 and would like to compliment you on the hotel, its fittings and especilly your staff. It was a pleasure. The hotel compares so very well with characterless multiple, chain hotels. We liked the paintings very much, and the historical explanations on brass plates. With best wishes,
Dear Mr Beale,
Just to let you know that my husband and I had the most fabulous stay at your West Lodge Park Hotel this weekend (24 -26 Feb). I love room 70, very private and quiet, thanks to Yuksel (sorry if I am spelling this incorrectly) who helped me find the perfect room when I rang to book. Because I was foolish enough to leave the feedback form in my bedroom, I don’t know if the maid will give it to your reception staff, so I thought I would re-iterate what I put in the feedback form as best as I can remember.
Your staff are a delight. We found Matthew in the restaurant to be a most courteous and helpful in our meal choices in the evening. The food was (as I put on tripadvisor under the name Lucy!) sublime, and I asked our waitress to feed that back to the chefs. But all your staff are great, they make this place so very special.
Our room had everything we needed for a perfect stay, it was very large and most comfortable. Perhaps an area to put make-up/wash room containers (remove the toiletries somewhere from the existing shelf?) would have been appreciated but I am being very picky here, we managed OK.
The only thing I can think of to improve was having some serving tongues to pick up bread to put on to the toaster, just more hygienic when more than one person is handling bread, and perhaps the employees filling up the bread could use gloves so minimising any contamination!
The reason for our visit was to see my husband’s family. My mother in law lives in sheltered housing in Grange Park, and we happened to meet your father’s personal secretary Iris (and her dog Zoe) who also lives there. She says that you are still in contact with her, and that was the icing on the cake for us, that you are in effect one big happy family!
So thank you and your wonderful staff for a delightful weekend, it was probably one of the most relaxing weekends we have had in some time, and we will be sure to come back again when we visit relatives in the area. (already recommended your restaurant to my in-laws!)Yours most sincerely
I felt I needed to contact you today as so often the majority of responses and feedback left by customers are negative!
We recently stayed at your hotel to visit my daughter who is at the local university and to also link in this visit with a trip to London and to see a show.
We had a fabulous stay, our room was lovely, the meal we had in the restaurant on the Thursday evening was absolutely out of this world and the staff were obviously so passionate and enthusiastic about not only their hotel but the comfort and attention of the guests was clearly visible.
We just wanted to say a huge heartfelt thank you to each and every one of the staff from our room maid (who unfortunately I missed her name!) to Matthew in the Bar/restaurant area who was an absolute delight and lastly to Adam who we had the greatest of pleasures to meet on Friday evening!
We would most definitely like to come back and stay at your hotel again soon and thank you all once again,
With heartfelt thanks,
Laurie and Wayne Griffin (Room 59 Thursday 17th -Saturday 19th February)
ps, would be grateful if the General Manager and Adam particularly could be forwarded this email
Dear West Lodge Staff,
Thank you for everything you have done.
You have made this stay enjoyable.
My family and I would like to thank the cleaners for our rooms, the waiters for the friendly service, the cooks for the fabulous meal and all other staff for making this stay enjoyable.
Thanks againJessie Mann & Family
5th December 2011
You may remember that you very kindly gave me a voucher for a stay at one of your hotels.
On Saturday 3rd December my wife and I stayed at West Lodge Park. The food, accommodation, hospitality and overall stay were wonderful and we had a really memorable time. Thank you.
I will be contacting the Beales Hotel, Hatfield, in early January, to once again arrange our Year 13 Leavers Prom. This will be our third year.
Once again Andrew, thank you so much for your kind gesture.
All the very best to you and your family.
Have a great ChristmasPaul Simon
Just to say thank you for all your help in planning guest rooms and brunch at the weekend. Everything went really well, the wedding was fabulous, even the weather lasted! And brunch went smoothly and the staff were very helpful. We threw confetti in the garden, so thanks for that and I attach a photo of the happy couple!
Please pass on our thanks to all the staff, expecially the night porter who was kept busy - you were right!
Best wishesChris Mulvey
I felt that it was only right to send you a card expressing our sincere thanks for our fantastic stay over last weekend at West Lodge Park.
We stayed along with Mr and Mrs Hill and were truly knocked out by your staff and their attitude and care. A real pleasure to come across a hotel that turns hotel service rhetoric into genuine customer care showing real smiles.
I have posted some more points on Tripadvisor.
Please could you extend our special thanks to Matthew Croxford and Dave McIntyre who are truly exceptional.
We will be staying with you again in August with another couple who we only just met on holiday in Cornwall.
Here's to more stays !Yours sincerely,
1st May 2011
Today I visited West Lodge Park to make a room reservation for my wedding night.
I am writing to tell you how impressed I was with the staff who greeted me at reception, a young man whose name I didn't catch, Emma who helped me decide on the Turquoise Four Poster room and the lovely Dawn who very kindly showed me some rooms and gave me an overview of your lovely hotel and beautiful grounds. They all achieved the perfect balance of courtesy and friendliness.
Do please pass on my thanks to them. The 9th July cant come soon enough for me!
Yours Sincerely,Coralie Hill (to be!)
We want to say thank you to the staff at West Lodge Park Hotel. We have found all the staff at breakfast including Ljubica, Savvas, the two Sams, Demetris, Alex before he went to work in the Hatfield Hotel, and the rest of the staff were extremely helpful, courteous and friendly.
The staff that cleaned our rooms (numbers 49, 46, 4, 63 and 46 again) which were always cleaned to a high standard and whenever we mentioned to Peach that something wasn’t quite right, she got it sorted, so thank you ladies and gentlemen.
Thank you Grant for opening the door for us and the little friendly chats as we went on our way. Also the staff on reception were marvelous, always a friendly smile and extremely helpful.
So for making our eleven week stay with you pleasant and comfortable we are leaving a donation to your staff fund.
Thank you again.Yours sincerely

Just emailing to say what an enjoyable stay I had at the West Lodge Park Hotel last week. I was there for two nights, Wednesday and Thursday and was very impressed with everything about the hotel. I’d particularly like to mention Sam Down, my waiter on Wednesday night in the restaurant. He was absolutely excellent and I can’t complement him enough on his service.
I will definitely look to stay there again next time I’m in the area.Kind Regards

Dear Mr Seward,
My wife and I would like to thank you and your staff for your kind and attentive service last weekend. It was especially kind of you to upgrade us to such a splendid room. All the family enjoyed their lunch and our young grandchildren were disappointed at not being able to stay the night !
Once again many thanks.Yours sincerely,

I only wish we could complain again and return to enjoy another complimentary dinner!! Looks like we will have to pay for the next one.
I am just writing to thank you for arranging for us to return to the hotel and have dinner once again - [16th Jan]. We had a most enjoyable stay and in fact 2 of us added on another night and made a long weekend of it staying for 2 nights.
We all upgraded our rooms which were lovely. The food all weekend was terrific but most of all the staff were wonderful and in all departments couldn’t do enough for us.
We are planning to make this a regular venue for our get togethers and have agreed that 2 nights are better than one especially while you have your weekend offers.
Thank you once again and look forward to our return.Kind regards,

Our weekend stay with you 3-5 December 2010
We would just like to say how much we enjoyed our stay with you.
You have a wonderful hotel with superb staff beginning with a very warm and charming welcome on a very cold Friday morning by the head porter. We felt at home right away.
We stayed with you as we were attending a wedding in London on Saturday but did not want to stay in the city.
We arranged through you a car to take us in early afternoon and bring us back from London late in the evening. Our driver was an absolutely charming young man by the name of Denis, and his driving skills were impeccable. His level of service was actually an extension of your own high standards and quality, and we can commend him to you.
We plan to visit you again.Yours faithfully,
Back in Hong Kong now and I just wanted to acknowledge and express my appreciation for your hospitality.
I’m sorry we only met briefly as we departed, thank you for making that happen.
I really loved the stay in West Lodge Park. In my work I get to stay in a lot of chain hotels and it is refreshing to be in the environment at West Lodge where the integrity of ownership is aligned with the customer experience.
Specifically I really enjoyed
The comfortable bed
The Free wifi, - so many hotels try to make money on these peripheral offerings and I think it only alienates guests. I was recently in the executive lounge of a hotel in Australia and I noticed every guest using their laptop had bypassed the costly hotel wifi and had their own dongles downloading their emails.
The very related service from your staff
Compliments for a fine hotelWarm regards

It's a cold miserable Sunday pm here in Lincolnshire but I have just a very pleasant hour looking at your wonderful website.
My husband and I spent our honeymoon there 32 years ago. Unfortunately David passed away 2 weeks ago at the relatively young age of 60 after being diagnosed with cancer just 6 weeks earlier so to come across your site with all it's pictures was a comfort and brought back very happy memories.
When we arrived at the station at Enfield, late on a Sunday night at the end of July, we expected to find a taxi office there to enable us to get to the hotel. Unfortunately as we subsequently found out one did not exist. We phoned your hotel and explained the situation and the wonderful receptionist organised one for us.
At the moment my daughter is transferring slides, that we took at the time on the computer, for safe keeping. I look just the same then as I do now...I wish.
Sorry to ramble on but as I say it's been wonderful take a trip down memory lane.Regards

Dear Andrew Beale
Thank you very much for the wonderful dinner and farewell on Friday – it was a really memorable occasion which I shall always remember. Also the tour of the arboretum which was most interesting.
We enjoyed our 3 night stay at West Lodge and thank you for all the vouchers you have given over the years.
We wish you and the family all the very best for the future and we hope now business will settle down and improve in the very near future. With love and all God’s blessings.

Dear Mr Beale
Foulds school ball 1st May 2010
We would like to thank you for your kind donation of a classic double bedroom and full english breakfast at West Lodge Park for the main prize in our raffle. The ball was attended by 86 people and the raffle alone made a fantastic £385 for Foulds School PTA. The other prizes were 3 bottles of wine – I think that shows how highly thought of West Lodge is with our parents and there were many disappointed faces when the raffle was drawn !.....Our thanks to you once again for helping Foulds School make this a very special event, we really appreciate it.Yours sincerely,
I am writting to express my appreciation of the service and efficiency we experienced at West Lodge Park last week-end. I had booked a party of family and friends in to the hotel to attend my son's wedding nearby and I will say that our enjoyment of the wedding itself was made all the more complete by the good natured and competent attitude of your staff.
We had members of our party arriving from as far as France and Scotland so timing for dinner on Friday night was a little uncertain. However, we were looked after magnificently. Nothing seemed too much trouble as the hotel coped with this influx of yokels from the West Country! I was particularly impressed that staff actually spoke to one as they moved about the hotel. Even those sorting laundry in corridors would actually pause, look up and say "Good Morning"
Although our exprience made a special week-end even more memorable and I would very much like to pass on our thanks to everyone at the hotel. Many Thanks Again
Dear Dave McIntyre
I must send you a quick email to thank you for a really excellent recent 2 night stay (8 - 10 November) - far better than I ever expected!
I had reserved online a standard room but asked for 'quiet, with good view'. I am SO grateful for the very kind but unex;ected upgrade to Rm 8 Casement Rm (at the standard rate too). It was extremely comfortable, in the fascinating old part of such a lovely historic building with wonderful daytime views of the Arboretum, and on Sunday night, a bonus of the fireworks of Hadley!
Though I have lived in Southampton for 30 years, I originally come from Barnet, so this was definitely a nostalgic visit. My family (the Moore family) enjoyed significant celebrations in your lovely John Evelyn room (and another function room whose name I can't remember) over the years - my 21st, my parents' 40th anniversary, my wedding reception - all wonderfully supervised in his own inimitable way by Mr Phillips (who I noticed from your info, retired in 1992). Sadly my husband Alan died of cancer last year, so it was rather poignant to return to West Lodge Park where we had our wedding reception - 24 May 1986, though there were definitely over-riding memories of very happy times which your lovely hotel absolutely radiates!!
So I'd just like to thank you for a memorable stay at West Lodge Park, and for giving me the unexpected but much appreciated extra bonus of such a lovely room. I have recently taken early retirement from a very stressful and demanding job, and am thoroughly enjoying having the time to visit London (and Barnet, of course!) so I'm sure I'll return again before too long!!
Best wishes to you and your staff - and a particular thank you to those who carried my case (and my breakfast!) to/from Room 8 negotiating all the doors, passageways and stairs so cheerfully!Sue King (née Moore)
I travel almost monthly and have stayed in many hotels. I can honestly say I enjoyed my stay at West Lodge more than any other hotel. It is a peaceful oasis, steeped in history, surrounded by nature and with all the modern conveniences one could wish for. Your couteous staff are helpful, informative, warm but not dominating. And the care you take to select local but excellant foods did not go unnoticed either. Well done. I will be back.
I would like to know how to inquire about donating and dedicating a tree in the arboretum. My Grandfather was the director of Howard timbers, a great UK timber and veneer firm in the early-mid 1900's. He was a lover of trees and good wood and instilled that in me from a very young age. When I was walking your grounds I kept thinking he must have known Beale arbortoreum as he lived in palmers green. My aunt confirmed that indeed he used to frequent the park often teaching her about trees. What better memorial to my grandfather than to plant a tree in his name and make a donation to such a wonderful school of nature
Can you point me in the right direction to see if that is possibleThanks and best regards
Dear Emma and Andrew,
thank you very very much for our fabtastic stay at WPL on Wednesday night. yes, we were finally able to escape the children on a day when there was a room free. what a beautiful place, you must be very proud of it Andrew. we had a lovely relaxing afternoon and a delicious meal. our room was super and the staff are all so helpful and polite. it was a really special treat and a very generous present - thank you. we did try to thank you in person on thurday morning, Andrew (it would have been nice to meet you), but the receptionist said you were in a board meeting.William and Suse
David I just wanted to contact you to let you know that my stay at your hotel was great. I work for Lloyds Banking Group and with the latest reorganisation my role now necessitates me working from Cockfosters at least a couple of days each week. I have stayed at your hotel I think in total now 5 times and been welcomed on each by reception. Each time i have been given a lovely room and service / room service has been excellent. I guess you get plenty of e mail telling you when it goes wrong so I thought i would let you know when it went right. Many thanks will be back next week.Regards
Mr Vanstone called to report a 'serious complaint' and would like you to call him back personally as soon as possible.
He stayed in R.11 and his complaint is that he has stayed in many hotels all over the country, and his problem was in actually leaving WLP behind and going home!
Everything, from the room, to the service provided by all members of staff was exemplary and he has never stayed anywhere so lovely including the grounds. He would like to thank you personally.Marcia
We are writing to express our sincere appreciation of a wonderful weekend that we enjoyed at West Lodge park. Thank you so much for your personal attention to ensuring the upgrade of our rooms, your welcome and also the bottle of wine. We had room 5 which was a real treat and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Friends joined us and all really appreciated the accommodation and the grounds as well as the tasty food and drink and the very good attention of your staff to all our needs. We look forward to our next visit.Yours sincerely
Dear Mr Beale
This is the most peaceful and lovely hotel I have stayed within the London area.
My nominations for your "simply the best" are as follows: C;aor - the receptionist and Matthew as described in my enclosed card. Also the lady who booked my accommodation for (whose name I do not have) she booked me a very quiet room as I have been visiting an ill relative; this was so so appreciated. The cleaner who cleaned this room as it was spotless
Many thanks for an exceptional stay. I tried to rebook to stay another night but this room was taken. I hope to return very soon and stay for longer.Yours sincerely
I wish to pay compliments to all staff at West Lodge for service. I want to single out Jim, night porter - he is excellent.
Thank YouJoe Hynds
We had the most amazing time at West Lodge Park. Our room was beautiful, all of your staff are just lovely. Our stay was everything you had said it would be and more. We really can't thank you enough.Shirley and Rob
This is just a short note to say a very big thank you to you for your kind generosity and arranging our stay at West Lodge Park in Chestnut Lodge. We had a fantastic time and our friend was extremely pleased with the surprise.
We thank you again for helping us to make her 21st bitthday a very special and enjoyable day. We really appreciate it.From

This was our second visit to you hotel and just to let you know we had a lovely quiet room, No. 11, which is one of the refurbished rooms. It was extremely comfy and the bed was just right. We asked for foam pillows at reception as my partner is allergic to feathers and they were promptly changed. The room was clean with complimentary mineral water and tea and coffee.
We had room service and the food was fantastic, much better than room service I've had in other hotels.
We will both definitely be returning to your hotel in the near future. The complimentary teddies are a nice touch too!Kind regards
Dear Mr Seward,
Recently we stayed at the West Lodge Park. We were there for 2 separate visits, separated by a weekend. In our first visit we had 2 rooms and for our second visit we had 3 rooms.
Our stay at your hotel was near perfect. Put it another way, it allowed us to concentrate on the job in hand and not have to worry about other things.
It is not possible to single out individuals for being especially good. If I were to do so I would inevitably refer to only those that I came across, omitting other important team members which I didn't see.
It was all good. The grounds were beautiful and a pleasure to relax in. The food was all good. The service in the restaurant was quietly attentive. Reception was always helpful. The rooms were always neatly presented. Everything was in good working order. It was a pleasure that you had no piped music; it was peaceful. All in all A1!
I did encounter a few small 'oversights' (response to e mail, table reservations, room lay out), which I discussed with Chris Hall. Everything was resolved satisfactorily and of course amicably.
Because I was anxious that everything I had control over should go as smoothly as possible I know I was obsessive at reception about room requirements. I am sorry I went on and on about it!! All the same, the reception team were excellent in handling my requests and brilliant at juggling rooms so we eventually got what we wanted.Thank you to you all, it made a difficult time a bit easier.
(July 07) We attended Bryn and Ann Williams' Golden Wedding party on Friday and stayed with you for two nights. Although we passed on our positive comments on departure, we just wanted to confirm our feedback in writing. We received a very pleasant welcome at the hotel on Thursday evening, which was lovely after our miserable drive in pouring rain from Derbyshire. The hotel felt very warm and inviting. Our meal in the restaurant was superb, our room very comfortable, but above all, it was the pleasant nature of your staff which we found first rate. Congratulations on the excellent presentation of your hotel and more importantly (to us), your superb 'customer service'. With kind regardsAndrew and Vanessa Carter
(Jan 07)Dear Mr Beale,
We have stayed at your West Lodge Park hotel twice during the last couple of months and I just wanted to write and let you know how perfect pretty much every aspect of our stay was on both occasions. From the beautiful grounds and location to the delicious food and above all else, the truly wonderful service. All of the members of your staff that we met were efficient, polite, friendly and helpful without any hint of stuffiness whatsoever - a perfect balance.
We stayed at the Grand in Brighton last year and they could certainly learn a thing or two about service from you. Indeed, I would suggest that any hotel wanting to improve itself need look no further then West Lodge Park to see just exactly how it should be done!
Whilst writing, I ought to mention that we stay at Beales in Hatfield on a fairly regular basis and to say that whilst it is very different to West Lodge Park, we always enjoy the same high standard of service there too, particularly your lovely receptionists.
I know that these days, people are all to quick to complain if things go wrong, but I feel it equally important to let you know when things go right!
Please pass on my thanks to all your staff at Beales and at West Lodge Park, who help to make our stays such a pleasure - they really do you proud.
Many thanks and kind regardsMark Clabon
Dear Mr Beale, I have stayed at West Lodge Park several times over the past two years and have always been pleased with the accommodation and the service. But it was only during my most recent stay, from 24 to 28 June, that I truly appreciated the helpfulness and courtesy of your excellent staff. I had previously spent four weeks travelling around Europe and had stayed in hotels in Istanbul, Vienna, Budapest, Prague, Munich, Mallorca, Barcelona and Seville. The majority of them were very good, and in some cases outstanding, in terms of the product; but not a single one - not even the majestic Alofonso XIII in Seville - could match West Lodge Park in terms of service. Much as I would like to name the staff who impressed me most, it would be unfair to do so, for all of them - from the reservations manager to the receptionists, and from the porter to those serving in the restaurant - were a credit to the hotel. After the cold efficiency and sometimes lack of politeness that I experienced elsewhere in Europe, I consider West Lodge Park's staff to be in a different class. And it would be remiss of me not to mention that the room I was allocated this time (room 10) was the best I have stayed in at West Lodge Park. Thank you for another excellent stay, and congratulations on having such a fine team.Yours sincerely,
I have been meaning to write for quite a while. Back in November - I believe the dates were November 17th-20th (could possibly be the 16th-20th - our reservation was either under Roger Levy or Daniel Levy), we had the pleasure of staying at the West Lodge Park in Hadley Wood.
Our stay was absolutely wonderful. Rooms were great, but what really stood out was the staff. I have said to so many people how impressed I was with West Lodge Park. The main reason I am writing is that there was a survey box by the front desk to write about superb employees. I was late for our flight and did not have time to fill out a survey on the individual I thought deserved all of the things in the competition. This was Jim. Jim, was exceptionally polite, and made sure that all of our needs were satisfied so that our big day of travels was more comfortable. For me that means having tea (my husband coffee) and toast - very early (5am). When I inquired about setting this up, Jim immediately said he would take care of it, and I must say I have never seen a person do a better job at their job. He was there right on time (down to the minute) - which was very important to me, yet I never stressed that at all. I was just happy that we could have our tea / coffee and toast prior to the kitchen opening. Additionally, he had our paper in tow. This sounds like a minor thing, but this is the most important thing to me about any stay anywhere in the world. I have stayed at 5 star hotels all over the world and truly have never encountered a staff that was as friendly, polite, knowledgeable, and helpful. We have family in Hadley Wood so the next time we go to visit we will definitely be staying at the West Lodge Park!Thank you again.
