I just wanted to let you know how helpful your staff have been to me today.
I am very surprised at how much patience and care they have shown over the telephone and think it important i pass feedback on to you.
My husband and I are coming to stay on Friday night - unfortunately my husband is very sick and i had to check a few things before we arrived. I asked to be put through to the restaurant to find out what was on the menu and Layla who answered the phone couldn't have been more helpful or patient reading out everything to me. I was made to feel that nothing was too much trouble and she even said she looks forward to seeing us on Friday night, i was really touched.
My next port of call was to find out if there was enough room in the bedroom to fit my husband’s drip stands and medical equipment - I spoke to a gentleman called Fiz who advised me which room i should upgrade to and the reasons why and he then explained everything about the room = i.e. patio, air conditioning, fridge, coffee machine, shower etc. He was extremely helpful polite and thoughtful - he really made a focussed effort to make sure we had everything organised to ensure our stay was as perfect as it could be.
I would very much appreciate you passing my comments onto Layla and Fiz and whoever is in charge of training because it appears your staff seem to offer something very special indeed.

I thought you might like to know that the gentleman staying in room 70 or 71 upstairs just stopped to talk to me and said how lovely all the staff were here. He said he travels a lot and is an HR consultant so notices such things. He said everyone always seems to be smiling and looked like they really enjoyed working here.

I have to congratulate all of your team for making even our one night stay very easy and comfortable. A few words of praise. We stayed with you on the 9th & 10th of this month for a birthday celebration for Mr. Parry-Jones.
Our room (36) was comfortable, light and had a touch of character. Bath & robes for ample frames, neat ironing board, a coffee maker and no abundance of cushions to trip over all added to our enjoyment of the weekend.
Dinner both nights was delicious with good choice, the party lunch was cracking, the flowers were a picture and arboretum interesting.
But special accolades go to your staff who were efficient, pleasant and helpful.
As a schoolboy and student my husband worked at West Lodge Park in the holidays. I have to say that not only has he bored me with tales or his time there, but no skills he learnt then transferred to our kitchen or dining room!

Thank you for the upgrade of our room for our brief stay at West Lodge, it was good to have a lovely room overlooking the gardens and Arboretum. We really enjoyed our break, the evening meal and breakfast were excellent, with good service from the staff. We were only sorry we did not have more time to enjoy the gardens and Arboretum, as always we tried to fit in too much on a short visit.

Thank you for your e-mail. I have already put my review on Trip Advisor. I have to reiterate what I said in that review, which was that the West Lodge, along with Beales Hotel, is fantastic. We have been to both on several occasions and loved our stays - although very different each has its own style and appeal.
On our visit to you this time, as always, the food was amazing and the staff friendly, efficient and extremely hard working. You should be very proud of West Lodge Park as it is indeed a wonderful retreat. We stayed this time in Room 63 which had a great view over the gardens - the only downside was the weather as we only had a quick walk around them on Saturday as it was raining!

Saturday Night at West Lodge
I found a wasp in the bathroom and called down to reception. A brave young man (Dion) arrived and dealt with the situation.
This is a wonderful hotel, comfortable, welcoming, clean, very well appointed, even real hangers, windows that open, note pads, writing paper and pens and even a bowl of apples at reception. I am bowled over.
And it is because I am so impressed with everything that I want to tell you my one problem: The water. I wonder if perhaps you could save money on the water softener? It seems to me too much. It tastes, not just in the bedrooms (cleaning teeth), but in the pots of tea at tea time, glass of water at dinner etc. Might it be possible to use less of the salts?
Our stay at WLP was very good indeed.
A lovely touch to be presented with a glass of prosecco when we went to dinner and then to have our desert plate decorated ( see attached photo) just brilliant.

I’ve had such a lovely time at your hotel, Patrick said to me that if I needed anything in the hotel after he had left I could ask Anetey as the bar was open all night for residents. He has been so kind, I needed directions and he has provided me with this.

We decided to treat ourselves to a night away as it was our anniversary on Friday and we stayed in the Chestnut Lodge and the room was lovely. The wonderful touch of having umbrellas handy to use is such a simple but wonderful idea.
As usual the food was fabulous and the staff friendly and helpful – we were only there for Saturday afternoon and evening and breakfast on Sunday as we were working, but the atmosphere and staff made it possible for us to relax the moment we arrived.

After what has been a most exciting but also intense period leading to the wedding our stay here has afforded us a much needed repose. We have enjoyed the gardens and trees, the Jacuzzi, the facilities of turquoise room, but more than anything the sincere warmth and welcome of your most enthusiastic staff. It’s clear that they genuinely enjoy working here and as such are always up for putting in the extra mile.

The Beale family are very proud of their hotel and they have much to be proud about.
The location is excellent with easy access to the M25. There a nearby stops for the frequent bus service to Cockfosters and Hadley Wood railway station is a 20 minutes stroll.
The setting is delightful with nothing better than a walk through the arboretum after a busy day in central London followed by tea on the terrace.
Everything the hotel offers is of the highest quality and the focus is on providing comforts which benefit the guest ie no useless cushions or valances.
The rooms and very well equipped with everything that is needed in plenty of space. I had a room in the lodge during my first stay and this time in the main hotel, both were delightful. My only request would be to make the curtains thicker to block out the early morning sun.
The staff are professional and attentive. I could not ask for more.
As frequent travellers for both business and pleasure my wife and I stay in lots of hotels. We can say that WLP is the best value we have encountered. Thank you.

I am writing to you from our lovely room, which you kindly offered us as a free upgrade. And we also had a lovely bottle of chilled Prosecco and even a hand signed anniversary card waiting for us too. The whole experience, including the evening meal was fantastic throughout.

Mary and I have just returned from West Lode Park and I wanted to write to thank you for a wonderful, generous opportunity to enjoy the hotel.
As always, we were looked after so well and it was lovely to sit and enjoy Pam & Roy’s company over tea and drinks on Saturday afternoon. The atmosphere in the bar and lounge was very convivial and dinner was excellent. Every course was beautifully presented and so tasty. I particularly enjoyed the salmon and soufflé for dessert was quite something! What a real treat to finish the meal. Surprisingly we found space for a full English breakfast to ‘round’ off the stay. It’s a good job, weather permitting, I have some tennis games booked this week.
I do believe the stay at WLP was my ‘final’ retirement “do” from December 2012. It was certainly worth ‘saving it up’ and the Bainbridge’s also enjoyed themselves, celebrating (thanks to you) Pam’s 60th birthday. However it will not be our final visit to WLP, a place we delight in.

Just wanted to e-mail you directly to give my thanks for the great stay and evening meal that myself and my wife shared at the West Lodge Park Hotel on the 22nd November.
We had stayed at your Hatfield hotel previously and had a very good stay , so expectations were high , and they were more than met.
The Hotel itself is charming, and the grounds and room really added to the occasion (it was my Birthday) , but what really made it a memorable stay was the evening meal accompanied by the pianist taking requests as we ate our food.
The food was top notch , and although on a "meal deal break" I was tempted to upgrade and supplement both the starters and main , myself and my wife really enjoyed the friendly atmosphere, good service and when the pianist (Jason ?) played "Mad world" for me that really made it a stay that will stick in my mind.
In a world where people complain so readily I just wanted to take the time to let you know that all our expectations were exceeded , and that I have already recommended you to my mother and father.

I spent just over 3 weeks at your hotel recently as did my companion, Ian Crane. I wanted to send a brief note to tell you how much we both enjoyed this, our second, visit.
The hotel and particularly its staff, once again delivered all – and more – that is promised, in your pamphlets and other material. Every staff member we encountered contributed to the feeling we had of warmth, welcome and personal service.

The arboretum looked fantastic, and I appreciated the information signs about the trees that have been placed around. Food very satisfying at both dinner and breakfast. I agree, the scrambled eggs were the tastiest ever.
On arrival the receptionist handed me the room key, greeting me by name and with nothing at all to sign: a wonderful start which made me feel quite special (and a similar easy &friendly departure next day).

Just a note to say we have just got back from a stay at your West Park Lodge and wish to commend your family and staff on keeping such a beautiful house running efficient and smoothly. We have never stayed there before and although we found, for some reason, on check in we had no room reserved we were treated professionally and courteously. A room was given to us in the Annex, room 86. The hotel looked stunning from the moment we drove into the estate, the frost on the trees was spectacular and the Christmas tree and hotel decorations were beautiful, thank you for making it possible to stay at such a splendid house in keeping with its tradition. What a welcome you laid on for us at West Lodge Park! Thank you so much! Naturally we were sad not to have seen you but we were delayed at the wedding rehearsal at Streatley. To find your letter and the bottle of wine which we shared with our guests (from theological college days☺) was just what we needed after a fairly frantic day. The food, comfort and attentiveness of staff were all great and set us up for the wedding itself on the following day.
Then on to preach at the High Sheriff’s Service at St. Marys on the Monday and then to Barcelona with Ben, our elder son and his wife until yesterday! Retirement is never dull!
Hopefully all is well with you, the family, LCET and even St. Marys! Times of change indeed!

Because I was foolish enough to leave the feedback form in my bedroom, I don’t know if the maid will give it to your reception staff, so I thought I would re-iterate what I put in the feedback form as best as I can remember.
Your staff are a delight. We found Matthew in the restaurant to be a most courteous and helpful in our meal choices in the evening. The food was (as I put on tripadvisor under the name Lucy!) sublime, and I asked our waitress to feed that back to the chefs. But all your staff are great, they make this place so very special.
Our room had everything we needed for a perfect stay, it was very large and most comfortable. Perhaps an area to put make-up/wash room containers (remove the toiletries somewhere from the existing shelf?) would have been appreciated but I am being very picky here, we managed OK.
The only thing I can think of to improve was having some serving tongues to pick up bread to put on to the toaster, just more hygienic when more than one person is handling bread, and perhaps the employees filling up the bread could use gloves so minimising any contamination!
The reason for our visit was to see my husband’s family. My mother in law lives in sheltered housing in Grange Park, and we happened to meet your father’s personal secretary Iris (and her dog Zoe) who also lives there. She says that you are still in contact with her, and that was the icing on the cake for us, that you are in effect one big happy family!
So thank you and your wonderful staff for a delightful weekend, it was probably one of the most relaxing weekends we have had in some time, and we will be sure to come back again when we visit relatives in the area. (already recommended your restaurant to my in-laws!)Yours most sincerely
I felt I needed to contact you today as so often the majority of responses and feedback left by customers are negative!
We recently stayed at your hotel to visit my daughter who is at the local university and to also link in this visit with a trip to London and to see a show.
We had a fabulous stay, our room was lovely, the meal we had in the restaurant on the Thursday evening was absolutely out of this world and the staff were obviously so passionate and enthusiastic about not only their hotel but the comfort and attention of the guests was clearly visible.
We just wanted to say a huge heartfelt thank you to each and every one of the staff from our room maid (who unfortunately I missed her name!) to Matthew in the Bar/restaurant area who was an absolute delight and lastly to Adam who we had the greatest of pleasures to meet on Friday evening!

Just to say thank you for all your help in planning guest rooms and brunch at the weekend. Everything went really well, the wedding was fabulous, even the weather lasted! Today I visited West Lodge Park to make a room reservation for my wedding night.
I am writing to tell you how impressed I was with the staff who greeted me at reception, a young man whose name I didn't catch, Emma who helped me decide on the Turquoise Four Poster room and the lovely Dawn who very kindly showed me some rooms and gave me an overview of your lovely hotel and beautiful grounds. They all achieved the perfect balance of courtesy and friendliness.

We want to say thank you to the staff at West Lodge Park Hotel. We have found all the staff at breakfast including Ljubica, Savvas, the two Sams, Demetris, Alex before he went to work in the Hatfield Hotel, and the rest of the staff were extremely helpful, courteous and friendly.
The staff that cleaned our rooms (numbers 49, 46, 4, 63 and 46 again) which were always cleaned to a high standard and whenever we mentioned to Peach that something wasn’t quite right, she got it sorted, so thank you ladies and gentlemen.
Thank you Grant for opening the door for us and the little friendly chats as we went on our way. Also the staff on reception were marvelous, always a friendly smile and extremely helpful.
So for making our eleven week stay with you pleasant and comfortable we are leaving a donation to your staff fund.

Just emailing to say what an enjoyable stay I had at the West Lodge Park Hotel last week. I was there for two nights, Wednesday and Thursday and was very impressed with everything about the hotel. I’d particularly like to mention Sam Down, my waiter on Wednesday night in the restaurant. He was absolutely excellent and I can’t complement him enough on his service.

I am just writing to thank you for arranging for us to return to the hotel and have dinner once again - [16th Jan]. We had a most enjoyable stay and in fact 2 of us added on another night and made a long weekend of it staying for 2 nights.
We all upgraded our rooms which were lovely. The food all weekend was terrific but most of all the staff were wonderful and in all departments couldn’t do enough for us.
We are planning to make this a regular venue for our get togethers and have agreed that 2 nights are better than one especially while you have your weekend offers.

You have a wonderful hotel with superb staff beginning with a very warm and charming welcome on a very cold Friday morning by the head porter. We felt at home right away.
We stayed with you as we were attending a wedding in London on Saturday but did not want to stay in the city.
We arranged through you a car to take us in early afternoon and bring us back from London late in the evening. Our driver was an absolutely charming young man by the name of Denis, and his driving skills were impeccable. His level of service was actually an extension of your own high standards and quality, and we can commend him to you.

I really loved the stay in West Lodge Park. In my work I get to stay in a lot of chain hotels and it is refreshing to be in the environment at West Lodge where the integrity of ownership is aligned with the customer experience.

I was recently in the executive lounge of a hotel in Australia and I noticed every guest using their laptop had bypassed the costly hotel wifi and had their own dongles downloading their emails.

It's a cold miserable Sunday pm here in Lincolnshire but I have just a very pleasant hour looking at your wonderful website.
My husband and I spent our honeymoon there 32 years ago. Unfortunately David passed away 2 weeks ago at the relatively young age of 60 after being diagnosed with cancer just 6 weeks earlier so to come across your site with all it's pictures was a comfort and brought back very happy memories.
When we arrived at the station at Enfield, late on a Sunday night at the end of July, we expected to find a taxi office there to enable us to get to the hotel. Unfortunately as we subsequently found out one did not exist. We phoned your hotel and explained the situation and the wonderful receptionist organised one for us.
At the moment my daughter is transferring slides, that we took at the time on the computer, for safe keeping. I look just the same then as I do now...I wish.
Sorry to ramble on but as I say it's been wonderful take a trip down memory lane.Regards

I am writting to express my appreciation of the service and efficiency we experienced at West Lodge Park last week-end. I had booked a party of family and friends in to the hotel to attend my son's wedding nearby and I will say that our enjoyment of the wedding itself was made all the more complete by the good natured and competent attitude of your staff.
We had members of our party arriving from as far as France and Scotland so timing for dinner on Friday night was a little uncertain. However, we were looked after magnificently. Nothing seemed too much trouble as the hotel coped with this influx of yokels from the West Country! I was particularly impressed that staff actually spoke to one as they moved about the hotel. Even those sorting laundry in corridors would actually pause, look up and say "Good Morning"
Although our exprience made a special week-end even more memorable and I would very much like to pass on our thanks to everyone at the hotel.Many Thanks Again

I must send you a quick email to thank you for a really excellent recent 2 night stay (8 - 10 November) - far better than I ever expected!
I had reserved online a standard room but asked for 'quiet, with good view'. I am SO grateful for the very kind but unex;ected upgrade to Rm 8 Casement Rm (at the standard rate too). It was extremely comfortable, in the fascinating old part of such a lovely historic building with wonderful daytime views of the Arboretum, and on Sunday night, a bonus of the fireworks of Hadley!
Though I have lived in Southampton for 30 years, I originally come from Barnet, so this was definitely a nostalgic visit. My family (the Moore family) enjoyed significant celebrations in your lovely John Evelyn room (and another function room whose name I can't remember) over the years - my 21st, my parents' 40th anniversary, my wedding reception - all wonderfully supervised in his own inimitable way by Mr Phillips (who I noticed from your info, retired in 1992). Sadly my husband Alan died of cancer last year, so it was rather poignant to return to West Lodge Park where we had our wedding reception - 24 May 1986, though there were definitely over-riding memories of very happy times which your lovely hotel absolutely radiates!!
So I'd just like to thank you for a memorable stay at West Lodge Park, and for giving me the unexpected but much appreciated extra bonus of such a lovely room. I have recently taken early retirement from a very stressful and demanding job, and am thoroughly enjoying having the time to visit London (and Barnet, of course!) so I'm sure I'll return again before too long!!

I travel almost monthly and have stayed in many hotels. I can honestly say I enjoyed my stay at West Lodge more than any other hotel. It is a peaceful oasis, steeped in history, surrounded by nature and with all the modern conveniences one could wish for. Your couteous staff are helpful, informative, warm but not dominating. And the care you take to select local but excellant foods did not go unnoticed either. Well done. I will be back.
I would like to know how to inquire about donating and dedicating a tree in the arboretum. My Grandfather was the director of Howard timbers, a great UK timber and veneer firm in the early-mid 1900's. He was a lover of trees and good wood and instilled that in me from a very young age. When I was walking your grounds I kept thinking he must have known Beale arbortoreum as he lived in palmers green. My aunt confirmed that indeed he used to frequent the park often teaching her about trees. What better memorial to my grandfather than to plant a tree in his name and make a donation to such a wonderful school of nature

Mr Vanstone called to report a 'serious complaint' and would like you to call him back personally as soon as possible.
He stayed in R.11 and his complaint is that he has stayed in many hotels all over the country, and his problem was in actually leaving WLP behind and going home!

This was our second visit to you hotel and just to let you know we had a lovely quiet room, No. 11, which is one of the refurbished rooms. It was extremely comfy and the bed was just right. We asked for foam pillows at reception as my partner is allergic to feathers and they were promptly changed. The room was clean with complimentary mineral water and tea and coffee.
We had room service and the food was fantastic, much better than room service I've had in other hotels.
We will both definitely be returning to your hotel in the near future. The complimentary teddies are a nice touch too!Kind regards

Recently we stayed at the West Lodge Park. We were there for 2 separate visits, separated by a weekend. In our first visit we had 2 rooms and for our second visit we had 3 rooms.
Our stay at your hotel was near perfect. Put it another way, it allowed us to concentrate on the job in hand and not have to worry about other things.
It is not possible to single out individuals for being especially good. If I were to do so I would inevitably refer to only those that I came across, omitting other important team members which I didn't see.
It was all good. The grounds were beautiful and a pleasure to relax in. The food was all good. The service in the restaurant was quietly attentive. Reception was always helpful. The rooms were always neatly presented. Everything was in good working order. It was a pleasure that you had no piped music; it was peaceful. All in all A1!
I did encounter a few small 'oversights' (response to e mail, table reservations, room lay out), which I discussed with Chris Hall. Everything was resolved satisfactorily and of course amicably.
Because I was anxious that everything I had control over should go as smoothly as possible I know I was obsessive at reception about room requirements. I am sorry I went on and on about it!! All the same, the reception team were excellent in handling my requests and brilliant at juggling rooms so we eventually got what we wanted.Thank you to you all, it made a difficult time a bit easier.

We have stayed at your West Lodge Park hotel twice during the last couple of months and I just wanted to write and let you know how perfect pretty much every aspect of our stay was on both occasions. From the beautiful grounds and location to the delicious food and above all else, the truly wonderful service. All of the members of your staff that we met were efficient, polite, friendly and helpful without any hint of stuffiness whatsoever - a perfect balance.
We stayed at the Grand in Brighton last year and they could certainly learn a thing or two about service from you. Indeed, I would suggest that any hotel wanting to improve itself need look no further then West Lodge Park to see just exactly how it should be done!
Whilst writing, I ought to mention that we stay at Beales in Hatfield on a fairly regular basis and to say that whilst it is very different to West Lodge Park, we always enjoy the same high standard of service there too, particularly your lovely receptionists.

Dear Mr Beale, I have stayed at West Lodge Park several times over the past two years and have always been pleased with the accommodation and the service. But it was only during my most recent stay, from 24 to 28 June, that I truly appreciated the helpfulness and courtesy of your excellent staff. I had previously spent four weeks travelling around Europe and had stayed in hotels in Istanbul, Vienna, Budapest, Prague, Munich, Mallorca, Barcelona and Seville. The majority of them were very good, and in some cases outstanding, in terms of the product; but not a single one - not even the majestic Alofonso XIII in Seville - could match West Lodge Park in terms of service. Much as I would like to name the staff who impressed me most, it would be unfair to do so, for all of them - from the reservations manager to the receptionists, and from the porter to those serving in the restaurant - were a credit to the hotel. After the cold efficiency and sometimes lack of politeness that I experienced elsewhere in Europe, I consider West Lodge Park's staff to be in a different class. And it would be remiss of me not to mention that the room I was allocated this time (room 10) was the best I have stayed in at West Lodge Park. I have been meaning to write for quite a while. Back in November - I believe the dates were November 17th-20th (could possibly be the 16th-20th - our reservation was either under Roger Levy or Daniel Levy), we had the pleasure of staying at the West Lodge Park in Hadley Wood.
Our stay was absolutely wonderful. Rooms were great, but what really stood out was the staff. I have said to so many people how impressed I was with West Lodge Park.The main reason I am writing is that there was a survey box by the front desk to write about superb employees. I was late for our flight and did not have time to fill out a survey on the individual I thought deserved all of the things in the competition. This was Jim. Jim, was exceptionally polite, and made sure that all of our needs were satisfied so that our big day of travels was more comfortable. For me that means having tea (my husband coffee) and toast - very early (5am). When I inquired about setting this up, Jim immediately said he would take care of it, and I must say I have never seen a person do a better job at their job. He was there right on time (down to the minute) - which was very important to me, yet I never stressed that at all. I was just happy that we could have our tea / coffee and toast prior to the kitchen opening. Additionally, he had our paper in tow.This sounds like a minor thing, but this is the most important thing to me about any stay anywhere in the world. I have stayed at 5 star hotels all over the world and truly have never encountered a staff that was as friendly, polite, knowledgeable, and helpful. We have family in Hadley Wood so the next time we go to visit we will definitely be staying at the West Lodge Park!Thank you again.
