In a company with a heritage as long as ours, invariably our suppliers become a vital part of the task of looking after our guests and their varied needs.

We are fortunate to have a long list of reputable suppliers, many of which have become friends and colleagues over many years. Here are some of the people and companies that help Beales Hotels to remain at the top of the hotel business day by day. Note that links to our wonderful local food suppliers may be found on the separate Food page.

Andrew Beale - Managing Director

One of the key parts of the jigsaw in running a hotel is a decent laundry, and Stalbridge have helped us in many ways with soft fluffy towels, Egyptian cotton bed linen, smart damask tablecloths, and chefs uniforms. Key contact the very friendly Kevin Newton

Peppers Marquees

As we offer marquees in the grounds at West Lodge Park for weddings and other celebrations, it is key that the marquee chosen is every bit as high quality as the internal rooms of the hotel. Our guests would expect nothing less. New carpet, boarded floor to keep the damp at bay, proper chandelier lighting, opening doors, traditional style poled marquee etc. These are the best in the business and don’t disappoint. Key contact Stuart Pepper

Stage Two Ltd

Ultra reliable providers of all the myriad conference equipment requested by our meeting organisers. When you are hosting a meeting at Beales Hotels, it is so much better to know that the equipment is going to work correctly and has been installed correctly by a qualified technician than to rely on conference equipment that has been knocking around hotel cupboards ! Key contact Terry Douris

RPM Associates

There are many interior designers around but few with the operational experience and understanding of Robert Malleson who combines good project management skills and an excellent eye for detail. Recent projects have included the Front Lounge and Reception area at West Lodge Park and the Buckland Suite at Beales Hotel.

Ultra contemporary furniture is sometimes hopeless, as we have found to our cost when we opened Beales Hotel with gorgeous Italian furniture by Minotti which proved totally impractical to live with. Here, on the other hand, is a great company with furniture that not only looks great but lasts. Examples at Beales Hotel include the bedroom chairs, the restaurant chairs and tables and the bar tables. Well recommended. Key contact Stuart Anderson

Here is ultra contemporary furniture, or rather, in our case, ultra retro, in the form of the George Nelson designed Coconut Chair from 1955. Amazingly comfortable to sit on, these chairs grace the foyer at Beales Hotel in stunning black leather.

Like Kesterport above, Morgan furniture specialises in items that will last in hotels. Recent examples at Beales Hotel include OutsideIn restaurant sofas, while at West Lodge Park, the new sexy bar furniture and some bedroom chairs are from Morgan.

Burgess Furniture

We have hundreds of chairs and tables from Burgess and have never been disappointed with the quality. A true British success story as their chairs are seen throughout the world.

Not for nothing does the Queen sleep on Hypnos beds – proudly called the most comfortable beds in the world. Currently in all our rooms at Beales Hotel and being put into every room at West Lodge Park over the next few months.

Cole & Son

Top end hand printed wallpaper designers by appointment to Her Majesty the Queen, with beautiful designs gracing the walls of OutsideIn and TalkBar at Beales Hotel

Excellent heavy duty teak garden furniture from a good manufacturer in Enfield that currently graces the terraces at both West Lodge Park and Beales Hotel. The umbrellas in ecru have fallen victim to the relentless windy days this year, but add style and grace to the hotels on the rare sunny days.

Andy Thornton

A treasure trove of bar furniture, fittings, decorations, etc. The new terrace at Beales hotel has a high quality (and expensive) bespoke stainless steel balustrade around it from Andy Thornton.

TYGA Marketing

Choosing who to work with for brochures, logos, website etc is a very personal choice and one with long term ramifications for one’s business. Fortunately we have grown together over the last few years - Tyga have understood the complexity of hotel marketing and have helped us with creating very different looks for West Lodge Park and Beales Hotel, to match the differing profiles of these two hotels. Our website must be one of the best around. Key contact Rob Barber

Anthony Byrne Fine Wines Ltd

Anthony Byrne fine wines have helped us develop wine lists to be proud of, without the pomposity and stuffiness that some traditional wine lists are known for. Key contact Alan Gowans

Suppliers of all our beers and minerals at both hotels, with an ever improving wine list as well. Key contact Phil Sumner

Marrey Tableware Ltd

Suppliers of our ranges of high quality crockery, glassware and cutlery, at both hotels including Alchemy, Riedel and Rosenthal

Roland pianos proudly grace the reception area at Beales Hotel and the Mary Beale Restaurant at West Lodge Park, playing continuously long after our pianist has gone home ! Key contact Neil McDougall

University of Hertfordshire

The University of Hertfordshire is one of the top five new universities and a remarkable place with a recent investment programme of over £150M and thousands of highly motivated students of all ages. We have close links to the Department of Fine Art. The wonderful students and staff have provided all the 90 or so works of art at Beales Hotel. Fantastic annual degree show with an amazing range of talent on offer. Key contact Tricia Bryan

Arts & Business

Arts and Business have been terrific supporters of our art project at Beales Hotel, fully funding half of the project and giving great advice along the way. Key contact Gill Bloomfield

the design buro

When looking to rebuild Beales Hotel from scratch, we decided upon the Design Buro as being a forward looking and youthful practice. We were not disappointed and the stunning hotel is a testament to their abilities as a young team. Current projects they are working on for us include an extra floor of rooms at Beales Hotel and a complete redesign of our Cedar Restaurant at West Lodge Park. Key contact Jonathan Pitt.

They built the wonderful Beales hotel to time, er….not quite to budget ! However, the quality has lasted and we remain pleased with what they achieved at Hatfield. Key contact Keith Miller

Hotel REZ

There is a whole world out there of online hotel transactions – GDS, Lanyon, Sabre, Galileo, Amadeus, Groople, Dynamic Packaging, ExtraRez, Prom1,2,3, etc….No, me neither ! Fortunately there is a group of people who talk English and help us through this particular minefield and represent us very well. Key contact the wonderful Daniel Simmons

Manners PR

Jane Manners handles all press enquiries and organises journalist visits and events at both hotels. For archived examples of her work, have a look at the Press page on this website

Hertfordshire Life

In a plethora of media titles that come and go, Hertfordshire Life stands out as a wonderful quality magazine that seems to go from strength to strength. It is a great supporter of Beales Hotels and many events have been held with us working together. As passionate about Hertfordshire as we are. Key contact Robyn Bechelet

Peter Dyer Photographs Ltd

When choosing a photographer for that key occasion, Peter Dyer comes up trumps every time with fantastic results. Based in Enfield but travelling the world on assignment. Peter and his wife Pam are responsible for many of the hundreds of images on the gallery pages of this website.

hillier hopkins

Accounting is never terribly interesting but these guys are more creative and have given us great service for a number of years as a good medium sized accountancy practice in the area. Key contact Grant Franklin

taylor walton

Mike Pettit is our Company Secretary and is one of a number of experts that we have good contact with at Taylor Walton, on matters from Employment law to VAT and hotel sales. Well recommended.

Gilmartin Ley

Mike Gilmartin is a well reputed local Chartered Surveyor who also happens to be the son in law of one of our shareholders ! A wealth of knowledge in the commercial property market.

Edward Symmons

Nick Boyd has a similar role to Mike Gilmartin above, but specialises in the hotel and leisure sector and is assisting us with the possible purchase of the freehold of West Lodge Park

Zenith Hygiene Group plc

Hygiene in hotels is not a sexy topic but cleanliness and peace and quiet are constantly rated as the most important factors in choosing a hotel by our guests, and Zenith provide us with all our cleaning materials and products for 112 bedrooms, 112 bathrooms, and 16 meeting rooms as well as restaurants, bars, and other public areas to keep clean. Key contact Steve Crossley

Visual One Systems

Every hotel runs on computer systems that keep track of guests bills and special requests. Visual One has proved to be excellent support at Beales Hotel and we are planning to install it at West Lodge Park in the next couple of years, replacing our outdated IGS system. Key contact Paul Staveley

Anything to do with telephones and Steve Larkinson is your man. Because he is much cleverer than any of us (being a technical guru), he can work from his seafront apartment in Brighton and remotely sort out any problem we have !

Capital refrigeration is a great local family business supplying much of our refrigeration which we could not survive without. Key contact Jonathan Hayes

Gratte Brothers

Another well reputed local firm currently involved in refitting our kitchen areas at Beales Hotel and West Lodge Park. Key contact Paul Bradley
